Overview

The KU Blockchain Institute is a student run blockchain group with the goal of making The University of Kansas the premier location to learn/develop blockchain in the Midwest. The organization has grown in both influence and membership over the past several year. It’s now time for the next wave of transformational leaders to take ownership of the organization and drive it forward. Thus, applications for the 2022 executive team of the KU Blockchain Institute are now open. 

Student can find the list of executive position and their description below. Students are encouraged to apply for multiple positions as this increases their odd at securing a position on the executive team. After submitting your application, the current executive team will be hosting interviews for those candidates that are a good fit for the team. If selected for an interview, more details will be sent to you.

Description:

  1. Meeting Notes and Leading Meetings
  2. Manage funds, invoices, and relationship with KU Endowment 
    1. Crypto funds in MetaMask
    2. Ripple Funds with KU Endowment
  3. Attend industry networking events to grow KUBI’s industry connections
    1. Increases probability of finding speakers
    2. Keeps President up-to-date on emerging market trends
  4. Meeting with Industry Professionals
    1. Responsible for planning/leading video chats and meetings with industry professionals, entrepreneurs, and other 3rd parties
  5. University Registration
    1. Register student org with KU and educational/business content 
    2. Update constitution and by laws
  6. Media and Public Relations
  7. Announcements to General/Executive Members (Internal Communication)
  8. Manage the executive team 
    1. Responsible for delegating work and tasks
  9. Responsible for all KUBI Merchandise
    1. Giveaways with merch
    2. Manage inventory of merch 
  10.  Final Decision Power
    1. Responsible for making final decisions on topics after consulting the Vice President and Executive Team for advice and guidance 
  11. Responsible for ceremonial tasks
    1. Celebrations, elections, awards, etc.

Description:

  1. Fill in for the President if he/she is unavailable
  2. Assist President in all invoicing, procurement, and fundraising
  3. Lead New Member Recruiting
    1. Plan public outreach events
    2. Organize tabling events
    3. Develop and Mentor new members
  4. Manage and Maintain the Google Drive
    1. Ensure the drive is organized 
    2. Delegate to certain members if they need to clean up sections
  5. Meeting Notes
    1. Add important conversation and discussion points
    2. Responsible for assigning action items to members
  6. Any other tasks the President delegates

Director of Research and Development

Description:

  1. Develop procedures, rules, and mandates to maintain existing blockchain research infrastructure and develop it further
  2. Reviewing Research Project Applications
    1. Responsible for running and organizing Pitch Night
  3. Responsible for Project Updates
    1. Check-in with students/faculty to get status reports of projects (weekly or biweekly)
    2. Collaborate with Research Groups and Director of Content Creation to update the website on the progress of the research projects 
  4. Maintain relationships with Professors and Industry partners 
    1. Professors: annual/semesterly emails to department heads to check whether there is new research, and annual/semesterly emails with professors currently listed on the website to confirm whether they are still willing to mentor/advise students
  5. Leverage and seek new partners to create new projects 
  6. Work with Research Groups on funding and getting resources 
  7. Setting up meetings with President & Research Group to discuss potential projects
  8. Any other tasks the President delegates

  1. Lead Marketing Initiatives
    1. Goal: Grow the recognition and credibility of KUBI through marketing tactics 
    2. Workshops, Speaker Series, Educational Events, etc. 
  2. Graphics
    1. Used to advertise KUBI related events and announcements 
  3. Social Media
    1. Maintaining/Updating KUBI social media with graphics and responding to comments 
    2. Posting video content on LinkedIn to increase public interaction and grow professional network 
  4. Any other tasks the President delegates

  1. Maintain KUBI Email 
    1. Use pre-existing template to onboard new members
    2. Communicate with industry professionals
    3. Elevate pertinent information to the president 
    4. Maintain KUBI Email list database
  2. Research potential speakers and companies
  3. Outreach
    1. Responsible for emailing, calling, and reaching out through LinkedIn to prospective speakers
  4. Student Organization Outreach
    1. Responsible for connecting KUBI and setting up meetings with other student organizations we could partner with 
  5. Maintain Database of Speakers & Industry Connections on Google Drive
  6. Assist the executive team in recruiting new members
  7. Any other tasks the President delegates

    1. Create and Distribute the weekly newsletter
    2. Relevant articles to market trends and blockchain technology

    1. Conduct weekly research on emerging trends and technology
    2. Use knowledge to advise president on potential speakers & topics
  3. Write Articles or Record education videos to be posted on the website

    1. Responsible for all website creations and updates

    4. Responsible for routine maintenance and editing of website

    1. Edit, crop, and download all media from speaker events, workshops, and educational content for media content
  3. Youtube
    1. Upload all media
    2. Respond to all comments
